At Whole Foods the other day I came across the Chinese Lantern Flower. I’m ashamed to say I have never noticed this flower before, but then again, I am seeing the whole world with new eyes now that I’m a photographer. It has a delicate, fragile beauty and the orange color simply compels me.
I set the flowers in a vase and in a dark room lit by faint light from outside. Then, with my flash as fill light, I captured the fragility of the flower, the nuances of its shadows and highlights within its wrinkles.
